I am back!

I have been MIA for a couple weeks. Rest assure, I have been working out, not as much as I should, but still working out nonetheless.

This past week, I have logged 12 miles walking/running and attended 3 workout classes at my gym. When walking/running, I do 32 laps around the track at my gym which is the equivalent to 4 miles, which takes me 1 hour. On Wednesday, I decided to incorporate running into my cardio routine. I walked 1 mile, for mile 2 and 3 I walked a lap and then ran a lap and walked mile 4. I tried a new class on Thursday since the one I normally do was cancelled. It is called Cardio Bounce, using the big ball. I really liked it and got a great workout. I will definately be going back to that class.

Tomorrow is weigh-in day for me. Wish me luck and I hope to have lost about 2 pounds.

Day 5

It was so nice out today. Not to warm and not to cold. Woke up this morning and had a nice breakfast. I went for a 4.0 mile walk with my cousin "B" and her son "C" (he rode his bike). Worked up a great sweat and walked for 70 minutes. Today was suppose to be my rest day, but just really felt like going for a walk.

After lunch, I spent the afternoon cleaning (sounds like fun, lol). I ate pretty good today, but slipped up for dinner. Somehow my car headed straight for the McDonald's drive-thru, ugh. Anyway, I have been really good this week, so I am not beating myself up. For some reason Friday's are always the hardest. Good news is that I have another chance next Friday. Like I said before, I am a work in progress.

Day 4

Just a quick note about my workout today. I started the day with a 4.0 mile walk with the dogs. They can't walk as far as they use to, so I brought the stroller along and let one walk while one road and switched when they were tired. They did really well, and loved every minute of our walk. After eating some lunch, I went on a bike ride. OMG I can't believe how hard the ride was. I rode from my house to my Aunt P house, took a small break to chat and rest, then made my way home. I also did my strength training class (Totally Chiseled), I missed my workout buddies, but hopefully they will be back in class next week.

I have been really good with my eating so far this week, and can't wait to get on the scale on Monday to see if it paid off.

I will sign off for now, I should sleep good tonight with all the exercising I did today.

Day 3

I can't believe it, I have made it through another day without swaying from my healthy eating. Not so good with the water intake, but that is a work in progress. I have decided that I am going to try and give up eating MAYO. I had a turkey sandwich today for lunch and just use mustard, and I have to tell you, it wasn't bad. For those who don't know me, I am a very picky eater, so this is a big deal. My biggest down fall is soda. Nothing taste better than a nice glass of coke in a glass with ice. yum yum yum. I haven't had one in 3 days.

It was raining this morning when I woke up, so I walked indoors again. I went to the Nat and walked 4.0 miles, this time in 1:06:06. I want to get it down to 1 hour.

On July 1, 2009, I am going to start my 5K training, as well as interval training. I will be running a 5K in September, but if I am ready, I might run the OROC (Out Run Ovarian Cancer) 5K in Cleveland in August. I ran this last year and it was really fun, although the run through the city was tough, lots of hills.

I am hoping that it is nice tomorrow, I want to get out and ride my bike after my walk.

That's all for now. To all my fellow bloggers that are trying to lose, stick with it, we can do it.

Day 2

Today was a great day. I didn't get to do my walk until the afternoon, because I had to take Casey to the vet this morning. Poor baby, along with the follow up from his recent back injury, he had to get 3 shots. I thought for sure he would be down all day, not him. He is such a trooper.

I went to the Natatorium and walked 4 miles around the track. Wasn't sure if it was going to rain, so I played it safe and decided to walk indoors. It took me 70 minutes to walk the 4 miles, which I think is pretty good. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday's I go to a strenght training class, with my cousin and a couple friends. As I was calling everyone to confirm they were going, one by one they said they couldn't go, for various reasons. My first thought was, great, I can miss too. Then I snapped out of my dream (lol) and decided I really needed to go, even if it meant going by myself, so off I went. I have to say that was some workout, but I finished.

I did very good with my eating today. I still need to work in getting at least one more snack a day, and drinking more water. The good thing is, I didn't have an soda (this is a great accomplishment, I love Coke).

Going off subject for a minute, is anyone out there watching "I am a celebrity, get me out of here"? I would love to hear some comments on this show. I watched last night and don't understand the hair spray that Heidi was using. She is in the middle of the jungle, why would you want that smell on you, wouldn't it attrack bugs? I have to give them all credit, I wouldn't last a second on that show. The stuff they had to eat and all the creatures, yuck.

I am going to sign off for now, have a great evening.

Day 1

Well, this is my first post on my new blog. This blog is being used to keep me accountable while I am on my journey to a healthier life. So here goes nothing, please pray for me and keep your fingers crossed I can finally get rid of this extra weight that has been keeping me down for way to long.

Yesterday was the start of the Summer Hiking Challenge, my parents and I hiked a 4.50 trail. This trail happened to be a horse riding trail and we saw 6 horses, and needless to say a few road apples too. lol We have to complete at least 10 hikes out of a list of about 12. This trail was marked difficult, and in the beginning we couldn't understand why it was marked difficult, there were a few hills, but the went up gradually so they weren't too bad. We hit the 1 3/4 mile marker and thought wow, this is pretty easy. As we continued on, we were in for a surprise, we thought we were finished with hills on this trail, but we were wrong, the last hill was a killer, but we made it. I am so proud of all of us for finishing this trail, considering we haven't done much hiking yet. The weather was perfect too.
Today, I went walking with my cousin "B", we walked on a trail that is paved, and has many hills. We completed 4.0 miles in 1 hour 13 minutes. It was nice out, and we even saw a deer in the woods. We are so lucky to have such great places to walk, you just never know what your going to see while out on a walk.
Today is the first day of the "Fit After 40 Summer Challenge" that I joined. Hopefully, I can work hard and lose at least 15 lbs but hope to lose more by August 31, 2009. I hope that this is the last time I have to lose weight and that this time I am working on a lifestyle change and not a diet. I would much rather concentrate on training for a marathon or triathlon.
